Description
Welcome to this manual, and welcome to beginning your journey to take back control of your perimenopausal / menopausal body.
Many things in life can cause anxiety, frustration and stress. At this time of life, your body has got to the point of change. It has completed its reproductive function and is now moving into the next stage. The eggs in your ovaries are depleting/depleted, meaning the main producers of oestrogen and progesterone have retired!
In their eyes, they have completed their function.
Unfortunately for us, however, we are not ready to lie down and be done, meaning we need to find a way through the physiological and psychological changes that come with these reductions in hormones.
Any female who has experienced mood changes, bloating, aches and pain around their menstrual cycle is aware of how our hormones can affect our day-to-day. If you have experienced pregnancy, and the aftermath of pregnancy hormones leaving the body, again you understand how reliant we are on our hormones to maintain a sense of ‘normality’ something we call homeostasis. At this new time of perimenopause and menopause, the need to understand what is happening to our bodies is key. We can begin to rationalise and take control of factors we can affect.
The aim of this manual is to help you do just that.
To understand what is happening, why it is happening and how to help your body during the transition. It is trying really hard to regulate itself but needs a little help along the way with nutrition, exercise and sleep!
